Hi all,
i have absolutely no idea how to explain this so i just head off and see where i end. When i switch my heater setting to cold, out of the vents there comes a small hurricane. When i switch the heater setting to warm the air which comes out of the vents is warm but i wouldn't even call it a summer breeze. Tonight i have been turning the knob with the engine and radio off for complete silence and i heard a buzzing noise (electric motor) when switching from cold to warm. The noise seems logical and completely normal but when i turn the knob slowly to warm, at about 3/4 i can hear a cracking noise (very faint) like a flap or something is getting stuck. This would explain the issue i have with the airflow, just a flap which is broken or whatever. Now my actual question is, does anyone have any idea where this flap/motor housing is located. (and how it is called) Sorry, i'm not a native english speaker (Dutch) and have absolutely no idea of the english names for the parts (but willing to learn!) Anyone willing to point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance guys (and ladies of course) Marc. |

Re: 98 Trans Sport Heater not blowing strong
Though I am not really familiar with the '98, it would be interesting to detail if that has happened suddenly, slowly, of was it like this since you have the car?
NOrmally the change in temperature setting just moves the diverter so that air passes through the heater core instead of going around....which lets one suspect the heater core might be blocked....although normally all foreigh material should have been intercepted by the filter located I think in the glove box (no such filter in the '90-95 model) ALso in order to increase the chances of meeting people with similar problems, I suggest you duplicate your post in the Montana and the Venture forums.

Re: 98 Trans Sport Heater not blowing strong
Thanks for the tips guys!
The picture helped a lot, i guess the temperature valve is the suspected one. Seems however quite a task to reach the heater core, need to make sure i have plenty of time before i begin with it. Will post here if i found the fix. Regards, Marc. |
