Re: Getting more power out of the V6

Cold Air Intake and exhaust would be a start to give it a little more power. I've been trying to ask the same thing with my 3.3 v6.

I know that on mine, I have the 3300, you can put the 3800 plenum, injectors, fuel rail, and supercharger on it. I would then have to re-map the computer. I would if i had the time and money right now, but i don't.

How much power you looking to get out of it, after all it is a Buick Century, not exaclty supposed to be "fast and Sporty"

Re: Getting more power out of the V6

It is acctually quite a fast car for being dubbed as a "grandma car ". I have only done exhaust on it and I know it can do 120mph. I'm not sure how much power I would want to get out of it but I do want to turn mine into a performance car, maybe a sleeper, drop a V8 in it.Do you know af anyplace where you can get performance cams, pistons, injector or anything else? Maybe around 400-500hp, if not, more. If I do, I would also remove the ac system and try to shave of as much weight as possible, add k&n cai.

Re: Getting more power out of the V6

sounds awesome...i know mine can do around 120 on flat ground, and i pushed it to approx 130 down a hill. what makes it fast is the great throttle response, and its o 3 speed w/ no overdrive.

Re: Getting more power out of the V6

i have the 3 speed w/out overdrive but I actually think I was pushin 130 flat ground a few weeks ago, but i'm not sure. It's hard to tell with the stock 0-85mph old style gauge that is flat not round.

I hate the stock speedo, they couldnt've made it go at least to 100...

BTW if you would push 300-400hp out of a century, what would you do about the handling???

Re: Getting more power out of the V6

I don't think the handling is really that bad but I would mainly drag with it.

Re: Getting more power out of the V6

what did u do for ur custom mounts? Also another thing that u could do is get a different set of pistons and connecting rods to make a higher compression, put on bigger injectors (I might this month),lighten the car (not sure how though)just a few more ideas

Re: Getting more power out of the V6

For lighting it Im going to use custom fabricated carbon fiber body panels it will set me back a fortune but it will make it lighter by about 200 lbs
