90 New Yorker 3.3L Rough Idle/Acceleration

I've got a 1990 New Yoker Landau that has been driving me nutz. It will occasionally idle rough and hesitate on acceleration. When on the highway it sometimes cuts out completely and leaves me coasting at 30mph. So far I have changed the fuel filter and changed the spark plugs and wires, but the problem just seems to get progressively worse.

When the car is in gear and I am at a stop the check guages light flickers. I don't know if this is a result of the engine idling too slowly for the alternator to pump out enough juice or if the alternator could actually be the problem.

Another interesting symptom....

With the car in park and my foot lightly on the throttle the engine will rev and then slow repeatedly and in rythem.

Maybe a TPS or coil pack? Any ideas? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.
