Daytime headlights

I have a 1996 Grand Cherokee Limited that I brought in to the US from Canada.
Is there anyway to change the daytime headlight feature back to normal headlights that I can actually turn off?

Re: Daytime headlights

If I understand you, you want to turn the headlights off during the day? Unless yours is different, on my 2000 JGC if you just turn the headlight knob on the left of the steering wheel and you can set whether you want the headlights off, parkinglights,on, or auto.

Re: Daytime headlights

I can't turn mine off. The Canadian cars have daytime headlights. They are always on no matter what you do. They are dimmed a little bit when it is daytime but they are never off.

Re: Daytime headlights

They turn on automatically, I don't think you can turn them off.

Angry Re: Daytime headlights

These are on daytime and night time. Half power during the daytime. When it gets dark they turn back to full power automatically. there is something different between Canadian cars and American cars. My headlights are on all the time if the engine is running and the car is in gear.Period. The Grand Cherokees that were for USA use don't have the headlights on all the time. I am trying to find out what relay or what ever my car has that I can change to make it the same as a USA spec car.
I must be on the wrong forum as this should be a simple fix.

Re: Daytime headlights

They have a DRL Module, which turns the lights on automatically.

On 1999s and up you can change its operation by taking it to a Jeep dealership and reprogramming the BCM country code from Canada to U.S with a DRBIII tool, no module needed. You may be able to do the same with your 1996.
