Lightbulb 6 quarts

Wow... did my first oil change on my 99 chevy ext. Put in 5 quarts and still needed another. Had no idea that it took 6. Are you guys changing every 3k or 5k or when you "change oil" light comes on.

I changed every 3-4K no matter what. I dont trust that oil light. It didnt come on for 9500 miles one time.

In the words of my Father "you can pay me now or you can pay me later..."

Oil is cheap, engines aren't. I change mine every 3-4000 Kilometers as well.

Re: 6 quarts

Supposedly the oil life system (not sure if you have that on a 99) is accurate, regardless of how long it says. I've even heard some valid arguments about frequent oil changes affecting our national oil consumption....

Blah blah blah. I do mine every 3-5k mi. Every citizen could change their own oil two extra times a year and not equal the waste of large industry, not to mention freak oil tanker spills. Fix it with big business first. Then I'll give a rat's a$$.
