1988 BMW stereo help!!!

My friend has a 1988 BMW that the stereo wiring was screwwed up pretty bad.

can anyone assist in determining the color coding for the head unit?

I know the american color coding for stereos. the only thing I can recognise is an 8pin connector that I would assume is the speakers. the rest is a rats nest.
