Hi everyone, I have a 97 Sunfire convertable, all of a sudden I noticed after or while I'm driving, I smell the odor of gas in the area of the right rear of the car, cap is on tight, don't see any leaks, after the car sets for awhile the smell is gone, can't figure where its comming from, any ideas?? thanks, Jerry...

Re: 1997 Sunfire gasoline smell any ideas?
You will need to check the connections to the fuel lines and where the fuel pump enters the tank. It is possible that one of the fuel lines is leaking or there is a leak in the seal where the fuel pump is mounted in the tank. Not an easy job since you may have to drop the tank to access both the pump and the fuel line connections.
