Question Looking at a 95 Dakota

OK, I am new to these forums, and I am just wondering if I can get some advice. I currently own a 96 Pontiac Bonneville, but have wanted a truck since I got it. Well I wrecked it (got rear-ended by someone not paying attention) and got 2300$ from his insurance and got some of my own money saved, and I have a friend who has a 1995 Dodge Dakota Ext Cab for sale. It has a Magnum V6 (3.9L) 147,000 miles (mostly highway) and all of the maintinence has been performed normally. There is minor rust, and it comes with a topper/cap. It is 3000$ and I am wondering if this is a good choice? One thing I want to know is how much longer will it last? I know it books for ~3800, but since he is a friend, and needs to get rid of it, he is offering it for 3000$. If anyone else has a V6 Magnum version, can you tell me at what mileage you had problems, and what kind of problems they were, and how long your engine lasted, etc. Thanks in advanced for the help.

Re: Looking at a 95 Dakota

I would opt for the V8 if its a 4X4 much more power and don't get to much less MPG. Is the truck a manual or auto. If its auto the trans can be a weak spot.
