drive axle ratio

Does anyone know how to determine the ratio for the front drive axles? Is it in the VIN # or stamped on the axle itself. I need to replace mine on a 2000 Impala.

Find your rpo tag, in the trunk under the lid or on the spare cover, go to c2ebiz/rpocodes.com, usually an fXX code.
