Sick of mopars

Im about ready to take my avenger and push the thing off a cliff. (But then i think damn no cliffs in minnesota) So a good old fashioned bulldozer will be nice.

But seriously i found a 1993 supra for 5789.00 383miles away. Its the Turbo and all that jazz. Though im thinking about buying it i found an 1993 celica with low miles for 2300.00, and a 1989 300zx turbo for 1500.

Im just sick of mopars i got a perfect 318 with brand new internals that i no longer look at. Im just sick of everyone who drives Dodges i hear nothing but its got a hemi around here. So i wanna buy something that no one really sees around here.

I just figured id rant about how mopars suck but some opinions on the 3 cars i listed would be really nice too

Re: Sick of mopars

Right. 1993 (MKIV) Supra for under 6K. Are you positive it isn't a 1992?

Does it look like this:

Or this:

If it looked like the first one, you better hurry up, because unless it looks like the car Brian Spilner towed into Toretto's shop (in which case the motor alone will cost half the price you quoted), then either someone will be snatching it up REAL fast, someone's scamming you, or you are making it up.

Agreed.

Also Mopars are good for one thing: Boost leaks.

Re: Sick of mopars

don't bash dodge just because people are hemi addicts..... if the car runs well and you don't have a problem with it... be happy... there are those of us that on a weekly basis have to do one thing or another to keep the car running. the 300zx is kinda old though don't you think? i'd aim for 95+ 300zx if you considered one.

Re: Sick of mopars

^kiss my ass lol. I've got an 89 300zx, and it's wonderfull... lightning boost response, factory LSD, all the luxury features you could ever ask for, great looks... I could keep going, but I'll let this picture do the talking... okay I can't find the picture becuase it isn't being hosted anymore, but if you go to this site, it's all about a guy with a z31 cutting 9 second E.T.'s with the STOCK transmission ----> http://www.dragtimes.com/Nissan-300ZX-Timeslip-365.html

My point is is that the z's are easily to modify and are pretty damn reliable too... all of those cars that you listed sound nice though too, so good luck..

P.S. my dad had a 72' dart and swapped a 318 in it... that thing really haulled ass, and he's never got any of that HEMI bullshit. We've got 2 mopars in our garage, not to mention the fact that we've always been loyal to mopars. A new car is nice, but I just don't think you should turn your back on mopars completely. Again, good luck!

seeing as how he has a dsm it probably isnt to reliable, or it might not be for long. i agree with him on the hemi thing though, every company has hemis, but they dont make a big deal out of it. the ford 429 is a hemi... but you never hear anyone makin a big deal out of it.

Re: Sick of mopars

all i'm saying is that my j has the same engine as the z na and it's solid, however the age is starting to show on the car.... i had an 88 ford that ran forever, however if reliability is your thing, aim for a newer car, that's all i meant. I'd take a 89 in a sec if someone gave one to me.... from one nissan owner to another, i love the vg30de, but if you had an option to get an 89 or a 96 for the same price... you'd be a fool to get the 89.

Re: Sick of mopars

My opinion, and please don't get offended, just take it for what it's worth. IMO, if you are still at an age where your parents have a say in your purchasing decisions, a 300+hp early 90s turbo sports car probably isn't the best route to go.

They aren't cheap to own, insure, maintain, fill with gas, and it's ALOT of power stock and take to mods like kids take to candy. Basically all my thoughts and reasons are in this thread.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

How so, the 96 didn't come with VVT, and from almost all standpoints is deemed unmodifiable... plus, I'd like to see a heavy ass z32 fit all the shit I fit in mine, get 300+crank HP with less than 1K invested, and still get 28MPG on the highway (I've been attaining that quite frequently). Jeez, 300 crank HP with 2k RPM boost response is just as quick as a stock z32TT yet I can still get better gas mileage... the only reason I'd take a z32 over a z31 is in the looks dept, which isn't by much IMO... I just think that you're over-looking z31's and aren't giving them as much credit as they deserve; IMO, you'd be a damned fool to take the 96 over the 89.

IMO go with the 89, but the celica would also be a nice choice

Dude... you know, if you can or know someone who can do body work and the back isn't all that bad, fix it and sell it for lots more $$$ than it's worth... I mean all supra's are like at least 20K from what I've seen on autotrader in my area. Sounds like a great opportunity to me mang, but good luck...

Re: Sick of mopars

From the looks of it I won't ever be buying a Supra. It's freaking $20K for a 93 model with 120K miles on it. Like dude, that's just plain stupid to pay that much for that old of a car with that many miles. I'll wait a couple years until the C6 Z06 is 30K, and build it up to decimate a supra, not like it can't stock anyways.

I just think it's ridiculous how expensive the Supra is. I can't believe people are still paying over $20K for a car over 10 years old w/ over 100K miles, which originally costed $45K new. STUPID!!!!!
