2000 Blazer quits when stopped and then restarts immediatley.........
...... mechanic had over 24 hours into trying to identify problem and concluded it was fuel pump, which I replaced and 39 hours later... same problem occuring.
It immediately starts again, after shutting off completley with no warning lights. It ONLY stops when engine is running and you're at a complete stop.... at least so far. HELP Last edited by PartyMixer; 08-19-2006 at 11:40 AM.

They replaced the fuel pump.... 24 hours later, same problem occuring.

The answer may lie in the 24 hrs spent in diagnosing it. It sounds like it is intermitent and possibly he could not duplcate problem easily. It sounds like electrical, but can you give us some more details as to how long has been acting up, how often it happens. Does it do it when cold? Any other related symptoms or probs? any recent or non- recent repairs?
The one detail you gave (it only does it when stopped) is a great detail, and I would assume that as long as you are driving it and do not stop it would run for hrs? One thing is for sure, After a few fuel pump replacements one could conclude that it is something else. lol.

I would check the ground for the fuel pump to make sure it is connected and clean.
Also check the IAC valve and have it and the hole it inserts into cleaned and scrubbed out.

SO FAR.... it only quits when stopped at a light or stop sign.... it's just begin so not a lot of redundant history to give.... it does seem to surface when hot, but ONCE, it occured after only a few minutes of driving, so technically it wasn't "hot".
Is there any connection to the ignition switch issues that I've read about on other model years???? FRUSTRATED IN GEORGIA.......... aggghh!

I've been wondering the same thing about my "intermittent misfire" If it could be the ignition switch.
Could yours be the egr valve? Here would be an interesting test, allow it to idle for a long time in netral or park, then let it idle a long time in a gear. How long might it take to stall? maybe never?
