Another 3.8/95 transport problem.
My transport recently developed a hesitation comming off the line...it's like it's missing...and I aslo feel a slight surge at the 2000 to 3000 rpm range...
I unplugged the EGR..but that didn't help...even though if it's stuck in the closed position..I can't rule it out. What else could be causing this? Wires and plugs are about 2 years old//air cleaner is new...no code has been sent..even tough the engine light came on after I disconnected the EGR..and now it stayed on even tough I replugged it...maybe I have to drive a bit for it to go out... |

Sometimes when cold in summer driving, it still hesitates off the line...I blame it on poor computer/sensor temperature curve fitting, which I have proven as really awful in winter : when cold in winter it is way too rich (which I have corrected with a switcheable resistor) , and in summer it is a little too lean...but I live with it. BTW, I just returned from a 2500km trek with wife and full camping outfit plus son from army camp and heavy army goodies on the way back and it turned out 30.75 m/imp. gal or 9.16 litre/100km or 25.65 miles/usg overall, city and open road combined ...so I'm happy with it. I feel I'd have to run something really minimal to acheive significantly better mileage....and it could not handle the load..

Re: Another 3.8/95 transport problem.
Indeed TPS sporadic loss of contact with the resistance track can be interpreted by the computer as rapid changes in throttle position, which can generate short duration cuts or surges. Measurement of resistance value between one side and wiper of the TPS (disconnected) should progressively go without jerks or misses from a few hundred ohms to around 6000 ohms . WHat counts is the continuity, not the exact value. Generally the region of trouble is the one where the throttle is used the most.
