Strange sound in an 88

Hey all. Ive got an 88 grand marquis and there is this strange "smacking" sound heard sometimes while driving. At first I thought it could the shocks as the car would wobble a little bit and I replaced them. The car drives alot better as the old shocks were totally shot (they couldnt even depress after I took them out) but I STILL hear this noise. It only happens when I drive over an odd bump in the road or there is a dip in the road and still, this only happens from time to time. Nobody Ive talked to can come up with an answer so I figured id try my luck here. Thanks in advance

Check you sway bar links, one could be broke. Also ford had some problems with calipers rattle over bumps.
