a leaky intake manifold gasket can give you misfire codes. If you are the first owner the IMG is covered for 120k.

How would I know if that is the problem? The engine is really starting to run bad. It almost seems that replacing the plugs and cleaning the egr valve has made the problem worse. OH, and I am not the first owner I got teh truck with 8K used and have 78K on it now.

I have been told that it could be my ignition controle mod. or multiple coil packs going bad. Each coil pac is $107 and the dealer wants $775 for the ICM. ANY THOUGHTS?

desprate for a fix!!

I second the IMG.

Listen closely for hissing sounds around that area when the engine is running. Also you can spray some wd40 or carb cleaner around where the intake manifold runners connect to the heads and see if the idle changes. If it does then you have leaking IMG.

Have any of you ever tried to tackle this img gasket replacement before? if so, I am planning on doing it myself and would appreciate some advice before starting.

Is there any thing else I should replace while i'm in there? Also, how much time do you think I should give myself. Is this doable in one day?
