Re: ways to get torque

Your car already has decent low end torque, unfortunately you have boring gearing. Get some 3.73's and you will feel it a little more. Other than that you are looking at some engine modification.

Re: ways to get torque

BlackGT2000 is absolutely right - there isn't another modification for the money that will give you the kind of kick in the ass that a gear swap will do.

You are literally multiplying your cars torque by going with shorter gears (numerically higher). Whatever you do don't cheap out on installing gears. Do it right - if I had the chance to do it over again I'd have them paint the gears first prior to install, run the car for a few miles, take the gears out to check the wear pattern, and then re-install and shim accordingly. If gears are installed right you shouldn't hear any whine back there (vibrations will likely increase though, but changing the driveshaft can help offset that).

Also, make sure you buy gears for the STREET. Street gears are made of harder metal and built to last. Racing gears are often a softer material and designed to flex during insane drag launches - those things are like butter and you don't want to be running that shit in a street car because they won't last.

Re: ways to get torque

about 150-200$ for gears and like 300-400$ to get em installed, and yea gears make a world of difference

Yeah what he said. Stick with FRPP, Precision Gear, or Richmond Gear. They are all street friendly.

Re: ways to get torque

well I'm assuming your completely new at this whole car knowledge thing.
first off its not all about hp & tq numbers speed/acceleration have a lot to do with gearing as well, you wont gain and tq or hp but your car is deffinately going to accelerate a lot faster. I'd also work on your suspension as well, you can have all the horsepower in the world but its useless if you cant get it to the ground.

well i think itd be good to say that your engines tq will not increase as stated above. but with gears you can increase your leverage on the wheels and that is the goal of getting gears.
