Lightbulb Folding Rear Seat--92 Lesabre

In my 92 lesabre custom, I really hoped that the seats folded down for extending the trunk...I found that they did, but only for service to the speaker wiring...the backs were exposed foam, there was a net separating trunk from seat, and the release method wasn't really designed for daily use.

Then, I heard that the 92 limited came with folding seats....

So can I rip some seats from a junked limited (do I really want to , or should I focus more on making my existing ghetto-foldinig seats into being practical?

That's a new one on me, there's nothing in the owner's manual about folding seats? I'd keep folding them the way you're doing it, too much trouble swapping them out for just that in my opinion.

Re: Folding Rear Seat--92 Lesabre

I own a 92 Custom and a 92 Limited. There are no folding seats in either car. They are not designed to be removed unless doing repairs. You should almost never need to do repairs.

Thumbs down Re: Folding Rear Seat--92 Lesabre

Sadly, the seats aren't designed to fold down at all unless you're really desperate.

The 2 sides hooks pop off easily (just pull the top at each side of the seat), but the middle has a bent hook that cannot pass through the hole in the sheet metal.

The only thing that came to mind to get the seat down would be to get some vise grips and bend the hook, but that didn't seem like a great idea, so I've let it slide.

The back of the seat is just 100% exposed foam. Even though it is some awesome foam that makes my seat more comfortable than its more modern counterparts, without protection it would still be torn up with the seat folded down.

It frustrates me that the newer LeSabres come with seats that fold at the push of a button...while the trunk is huge, sometimes you just need more space.

In those times, sadly, it looks like my cherished lesabre will fail me.

Buick, why didn't you learn your lesson and make folding seats (I don't care if they're split or not) sooner??!

So spinne1, you were right in the end. Much to my dissapointment
