Re: themostat sticking????

If it won't open until 230 then it is not the thermostat, it is your rad cap.

I bet you when you go out there and open the rad cap the coolant level won't be up to the top of the rad.

Top off the coolant, and replace the rad cap witha Stant rad cap rated at 16psi.

The coolant it not completely full hence why it has to get so hot before it opens.

No problem,

I had the exact same problem and I was about to replace the thermostat when I took the cap off and there was a lot of missing coolant and the rad was not full.

When cold fill the rad and then run the engine and allow the engine to warm up with the new rad cap off and then allow the thermostat to open which will drop the coolant level again and you add some more to top it up.

Then the rad after a couple minutes will start to overflow through the cap opening, this is when you put the new rad cap on and then fil the overflow resevoir to about 2 inches from the top.

Take the truck out for a good run through the highway and traffic and such and the system will burp out any unneeded coolant a stabilize.

And then you will be perfectly fine.
