Why is the Cab slower then the Coupe?

Why does the M3 Cab hit 0-60 in 5.5 secs with a Pro Driver, and the M3 Coupe hits it in 4.8 secs with a Pro Driver? At first I thought it might be all the gear used to make the top drop and such, but.... with the Corvette coupe, it hits 0-60 in 4.6 with a Pro, and the Rag top hits 60 in exactly the same time as the coupe.

Unfortunatly the M3 cab weighs in an extra (approx.) 400 lbs.

The corvette convertable does not suffer the weight penalty the M3 does though, that's why the cab and coupe has the same times

Where does the extra weight come from?

The Cabrio must have more stable and tougher construction. Add auto-roof and worst areadynamics and you will have your second lost.

well, i wouldnt say the m3 coupe hits 4.8 seconds, im thinking more like 5.2 seconds; however, u are right, the m3 cab is slower

i think the answer lies in the rigidness of the bodys of both cars, the m3 coupe is definitely a lot more rigid then the cab which means aerodynamic losses wont effect it as much

and i think u should look again with the c5 coupe/convert, because this principle of rigidness in a car's body holds true no matter what ur comparing
