Re: nice z i found

also, i found a 89 supra 5 speed turbo, but when i give it gas the turbine doesn't spin, and it has a little smoke, but when you go the boost gauge builds, is that just the vacuum? the dealer tried to say that the car has to be moving for the turbo to spin, i nearly shit myself. but i was thinkin maybe just a shity turbo, i could replace it. i loved my old 89 supra but i hated no FI :*

Re: nice z i found

Ok the turbo will spin even with the car sitting still. Its exhaust powered. Now it could have a vacuum bypass, in that case, get the rear wheels off the ground put it in gear and get the car up to about 2K RPM and you should see the tubine spin. But as for the turbo not spooling it could be the turbo is shot, which to me is the most likely case. Or it could be a vacuum line or anything inbetween.
