Fuel Injectors

I have a 2001 silverado 5.3 with ablut 50,000 miles. the truck seems to be hesitating and skipping at idle and you can feel it at highway speed too. I brought it to the dealer and they said it was the fuel injectors. There are no codes in the computer. The dealer said they ran a injector cleaner through it - $80, and it's still doing it. What does it take to replace all the fuel injectors? I have looked on the internet and it say I can buy them for about $200 for 8. thanks.

It's not a big process swapping the injectors. You'll need a tool to unhook the fuel lines(I picked one up at Advance). Then its just a matter of unhooking the injector connectors(be careful, because they can break pretty easy) and removing the fuel rail. Once you get the fuel rail and injectors off, you just have to pull on the injectors alittle and they will come out of the fuel rail. Not a hard process, just take your time.

FWIW....I picked up a set of 8.1L injectors for $89 on ebay. I needed the extra fuel because I was tapping out my stock injectors.

What the hell has a 8.1 in it stock? Isn't that equivelent to a 500 cid? or close to it?

I think the 2500 and 3500 trucks came with a 8.1 engine option. I guess it was for people that needed tons of power but didn't want a diesel. Also, people with stock in an oil company.
