Power Door Locks quit working

The power door locks quit working on our 2005 T&C. I was unable to locate a fuse specifically for the door locks. However, I checked all the fuses and did not find any blown. The power door locks will not work with the door switches or the keyless remote. Any ideas???

Re: Power Door Locks quit working

I do not have a 2005 wiring diagram, but on the '98 there is a fuse #28 located in the power disrtribution center (under hood) that is specific to the power door locks.

Re: Power Door Locks quit working

My 2005 Grand Caravan has the same problem. Door locks are not working. Niether the remote or door switches activate the locks, with the exception of the tailgate!
I had a remote start installed by a reputable dealer. Everything worked well for a year. I first took the van to the installer who assured me his equipment was OK.
I discovered these aren't simple on/off switches anymore. they all appear to feed into a control unit.
Before I empty my wallet at the dealer, has
anyone find a solution to this one yet?

thanks

Re: Power Door Locks quit working

My 2005 GC has done this twice now in the 2 1/2/ years I have owned it. Both times I took it to the dealer and had them clear the code and it was fine for about 1 year. I have found out from from suggesting to other Dodge GC owners that have this problem to disconnect the neg battery terminal for 5 minutes and reconnect to reset the BCM. Everyone on the other forums I have posted this on, this has solved the problem. Please let me know if this works also. I know this is just a work around for a problem but saves the dealer BS. Or if someone knows a real solution please post for everyone.

The dealer told me that they would have to replace the BCM. Others have been told the same and have had it replaced and the problem still exists. Others have had aftermarket alarms installed and the dealer has blamed the alarm for the problem. Made them remove the alarm to fix it and the problem and the problem still exists. So I think the problem is more common then they think and have no clue how to fix it. They just want to replace parts with no clue on a fix, wild goose chase.

So just give it a try and let us know the outcome.

Talking Re: Power Door Locks quit working

Hey everyone, it works!! I knew the locks were tied into a control unit. I didn't know it stored codes or could be erased.
I ran right out, disconnected the battery for 5 -10 mintues. When I reconnected - the locks work again!
My wife will have to reprogram the radio, but that's a small price to pay!

Thanks A WHOLE LOT

Re: Power Door Locks quit working

if you take it to the dealer there is an update to install in the body controller that addresses this problem on 2005 vans

Do you have a link to the problem? The past 2 times I went they had no clue. Besides I work in the automotive field and I order parts from Dodge all the time .so I ask my parts guy to check to see if their is a fix yet and they never come up with anything.

Disconnecting the battery also erases conditioning data stored in the Transmission Control Module (TCM). This data allowes your transmission to provide peak performance based on your driving habits. When this data is lost your transmission has to "learn" how you drive all over again. On rare occassions and for whatever reasons, it can damage the circuitry in the TCM and leave you dead in the water. An even bigger nightmare is the fact that when you disconnect the battery, you loose your radio station presets.
Thats not true, my RB1 Navi does not lose the stations or time.

Re: Power Door Locks quit working

I had the indentical problem with my 2005 GC removing the neg terminal for 5 minutes solved the problem and the only thing I had to reset was the clock.

Thank you for the advice. PS I have not had any remote start installed everything is factory installed options.

Re: Power Door Locks quit working

I have had the same problem with my 2005 T & C. Door locks won't work. Dealer told me it was because I had an instant start installed. Have done a check with the IS company and they have never had any reported problems with the system. Had the IS D/C and still the problem persist. I tried the 'removing the ground cable thing' and it fixed the locks, but the locks don't go down when car is driven above 20 mph as they use to. Will return to dealership again and give them some of the info I have now.

Many thanks

Did you take your vehicle to the dealership yet? If so what did they say was causing the problem with the door locks? The person I spoke to at the dealership service center couldn't tell me what could be causing the problem - I would have to take my minivan in to be checked. I would like to see if there's a less costly alternative before I take it into the dealership. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

THe door lock problem was fixed by dealership at no cost to me.
There is a problem with a module and a service bulletin was issued from Chrysler. Tell dealer to check with Chrysler.
