knocking in rear of my 95 monte

i have a knocking and a squeeking noise in the rear of my 95 monte z34. the knocking noise sounds like it is coming from the trunk area. the squeeking noise only happens when i go over bumps in the road. i had new struts and a complete bushing set installed in the rear end. anyone know what these noises could be? thanks for any help.

Re: knocking in rear of my 95 monte

Were the upper strut bearing plates replaced with the struts? Were the strut rod spacers installed with the new struts? How about the upper and lower washers?

Re: knocking in rear of my 95 monte

The rear struts are mounted in plates, just like the fronts (well, not just like them - A different part number, but the same idea). If you experience a light knocking on moderate bumps, that's a good place to check. New strut mounting plates are about $25 each. (Monroe 902968 right and 902969 left).

Re: knocking in rear of my 95 monte

I'd look at the transverse leaf spring ends (I believe the 95 Monte still had it) to see if the rubber isolators are still there too. Common issue on older W-bodies, especially if you live in an area where salt is used on the roads in the winter. Also check the rear stabilizer bar (if equipped) mounts both at the frame and the struts. My 91 Grand Prix had a clunk/rattle in the rear and it was the stablizer bar mounts at the strut.
