Nissan 180SX

Time to get out the sheet styrene & Tamiya putty as I'm doing this one with a bodykit. It's the Fujimi type X kit and so far I've roughly built up the front bumpers & sideskirts - obviously the rear bumper needs sanding down but you get the general idea.
For colour(s) I'm thinking black roof/hood & the rest orange.
Anyway here's the pics - sorry they're a bit dark.

Thanks for looking
Andy

Re: Nissan 180SX

Looks good so far, not sure about the rims yet though so I'll wait and see what they look like with the body colour.

Re: Nissan 180SX

Spent a bit of time sanding down the rear bumper - think it's just about ready for a coat of grey primer which'll show up the areas that need further work.

I've also been fiddling about with possible wheels (I just threw the first set under it to take the picture). 19" look too large imo & I only have limited 18" rims in the spares box so possible alternatives are -
Kranze Shoki

or
Workmiester S1

I'll wait until the paints on before making a final decision.
Thanks for looking
Andy

Re: Nissan 180SX

I say go with the Kranze wheels. They are different from what you would normally see on a car like that.

Re: Nissan 180SX

Thats a tough one.... both the Kranze and the Workmiesters look great. I would probably lean towards the Kranze though.

Re: Nissan 180SX

Looking great Andy! I love the feel of it. I'd say Kranze wheels.

Re: Nissan 180SX

R34 rims There was a car at LSU and at the autocrosses there, just like the 180 you're building, with R34 rims in the back and something else in front. He had to do a lot of bending to get them in there, but it was hot as hell. I got an extra set if you're interested (I think). Otherwise, the Kranze are bit cruise-y, and the Workmeisters are more drift-y.

Re: Nissan 180SX

I really like the direction this is going. I was trying to find one of these kits to make into a sil-eighty, but I winded up doing the s13 as is. The kits are looking great, and I think the paint scheme you have planned for this is going to really set this one off. Keep up the good work.

Re: Nissan 180SX

Now that I'm fairly happy with the general shape of the body kit I've given the bodyshell a quick coat of primer - as expected it's hightlighted lots of areas that will need some more work so it's back to filling & sanding

Thanks for looking
Andy
