Question Chrome or Tuner?

I just bought a silver 2002 Honda Civic EX. I've added chrome TYC tails, my Kicker Solobaric SL7 12" sub to start my sound system...

and its not time for new RIMS.

My question to you car gods out there. What looks better on a silver car? Chrome rims or tuner brushed silver rims or even black rims???

Also, Is there any significance in weight differences from chrome to silver?

I'm looking to make my car into a racy street car that will be able to tear it up on a track once I start modifying the engine.

Thanks so much!!!

Personally I think silver looks much better than chrome, but its your car, get you like better. I don't know for sure but I'm pretty sure chrome is significantly heavier than non chrome.

Thumbs up Thanks!!!

Thanks for the help! I guess now I will have to find a set of silver wheels. I want a set that looks original and is not what everyone else has.

Does anyone know of a manufacturer that is rarely used?

not off hand, but im sure you could search around on wheel websites and find a set you like. you wont wanna get a set everyone has, but if nobody has them... maybe thats for a good reason.

it not really a good reason to buy a set just cause nobody has them yet. just get whatever you like, if youre not the first who cares. but if you are, and you picked out a good set, most likey many will follow. bottom line, just get what you think looks good, cause youll never be the only one with them. but you copy me, and ill kill ya

Cool Thanks

My friends all think I'm crazy because I don't like to go mainstream with car products. What looks good to me is what is original and something that I haven't seen before.

Trust me there will be no copying. LOL

Thanks for the help.

If your going to race don't buy a set of chrome wheels, don't even buy the one you posted. Buy a set of small, 13-15 inch rims so they will be light and can have slicks or drag radials attached to them.

yeah... i agree with luti. You dont want to race with show car looking wheels (unless you get those japanese lightest rims ever... cant recall the name, but those set you back a few grand). If you really want performance go with small, light wheels. One option you can do is to get the really nice show car wheels and then have slicks on smaller rims that you put on when you want performance. But the flashier they are the more likely they will be as a disadvantage for racing.

I suggest that you look at the new Racing Hart wheel @ wheelmax.com, 17", 12 lbs. The Japanese wheel that so-cali was trying to recall could very well have been the Rota line. I found them super-cheap at doctorimport.com or urbanimport.com, can't remember which. Those are very original and nice looking wheels. Peace

I agree with Vtech. I'd get the Rota Slipstream replicas in gunmetal. 16s would be good. And get black housing headlights and carbon fiber altezzas. Then I would like your car. Hehe, I luv the black + silver look.

Wow those ROTA Sliptstreams look awsome. They are very light and have a great price.

Do they make them in 17"?

Do you all really think gunmetal is the best color for my car? I just think a dark color would just look dirty all the time.

I am already in the process of trying to find someone to by my tails.

Gunmetal on a silver car I think is the best combo and I'm not just saying that cause I have mean6's in a gunmetal on my car. I wish I had gone with the rota's tho and am thinking about buying some anyway there light weight they look sweet plus there cheap how can you go wrong.

My friend has a silver 2000 impreza rs and he painted his stock rims gunmetal and it looks great. The stock rims are pretty similar to the rota slips. I remember seeing the rota slips in 17 somewhere, but it looks like they just have em in 15 and 16 on groupbuycenter.com for pretty cheap. 16s- $470 shipped and 15s- $420 shipped.
