need to know a part name
ok. i need to know what that plastic elbow thing is above the water pump. is it a freeze plug? i am leaking antifreeze from it. is it hard to replace? what does one do to replace it.

What year and model Regal? Sounds like the plastic elbow from the LIM to the tensioner heat exchanger.

its a 96 ls with the 3.8 series 2 engine

It is commonly called coolant elbow. To remove it you need to remove the alternator and then the tensioner assembly. Then the elbow will remove for replacement. There are two o-rings that hold it in place with a raised lip. Available at the GM dealer. Companies like Dorman and Automite make them aftermarket and you should be able to get it at an auto parts store.
