What do you think of this Jetta? Need advice

Hi,

I've looked up Jetta 2001 1.8T (black, 5sp, fully, sunroof) in Vancouver that I like and the price suits me. It's a US car, that has been hit before and rebuilt in a garage/dealership in Vancouver. It's BC registered. I am planning to do a BCAA 140+ points check on it first and also have a car fax report. The total price, one year warranty on tranny/engine and lifetime warranty on paint/chips/parts that were replaced, comes to $12000CAD with taxes after some bargaining. Do you think it's worth considering it and go ahead and pay for BCAA check?

I've also heard that BCAA would not be able to tell if the suspension is good after the accident and that in that case it could eat up tires in no time.

Thanks

thats too expensive for a rebuilt 2001, you could buy a 2002-2004 1.8t for roughly the same maybe even cheaper that isnt rebuilt and has no problems. Mine is a 2002 and had 51k on it when I got it. I paid 10K and I have had no problem with mine except for one hose that cost me 15 bucks.

I don't know where are you getting these prices! I've checked private sales on Craigs list in Vancouver area, BC, and it's way above that: http://vancouver.craigslist.org/cgi-...=15000&addTwo=
The lowest price I was able to negotiate for a nicely treated 1.8T 2001 with 77km was $13,500 CAD before taxes. Should I still be looking?

13500USD = 14,850CAD assuming 1.1 coefficient. It could be more now.

I've got Jetta 2002 with 133k last week, fully loaded, in mint condition with service records, leather interior, sunroof, cd/tape and new tires, and payed 14,000CAD for it. So, it's closer to 12,500USD I assume. In BC, the cars are usually 20% more expensive as compared to the rest of Canada due to milder climate, no snow, salt, etc.
