98 GL 3.8 - Brake light on dash appears for a few seconds then disappears
I notice recently that the brake light on the dash would appear after I would come to a complete stop and start driving again. Then it will go off. It does this a few times and then it doesn't. Can someone who may have had a similar issue assist me in pinpointing the problem?

I had the same problem on my 99 windstar, ironically the light went away after I topped the brake fluid off, haven't seen it since.

DOT 3 brake fluid. Available at all parts stores.

Quote:
There is a brand at my local parts store that lists a DOT3 that is specific for Fords. It has a dry boiling point of 550 degrees which exceeds the DOT3 requirements. the reason that it cannot be rated DOT 4 (higher boiling point) is becasue its wet boling point only meets DOT3. Any DOT 3 is fine. |
