Question Headers

I'm looking for headers for my truck but every header I found say's that I'll have to cut and weld on them if I have AIR injection. Do I have that? Also is there any headers that I don't have to cut and weld on? It's a 97 Sierra, 350 vortec, auto.

Re: Headers

i would say u wont have to cut and weld anything if u get rid of that damn useless air injection.its a pump run by the fan belt that pumps air into the exhaust manifold for reasons manufacturers try to convince us are legitimate.there should be 8 little fittings going into the manifolds outside of each cylinder.odds are theyre so rusted they leak anyway.i would get the headers and take my chances without cutting or re-tapping any of the things.but thats just me

Re: Headers

Isn't AIR injection only used on Cali. vehicles?

Sometimes headers can be more pain than they are worth.
Why are you wanting to put headers on it?
Is this normal driver or other?
Many things to consider on headers?

Re: Headers

I want headers so that my truck sounds a little meaner and a little louder. I already have True Dual Flowmaster 40 series exhaust. Also more performance is always nice. Right now it is my normal driver but I did just buy a 88 RX7 for my daily driver cause of gas right now. But I will drive the truck reagularly. What are some other options that can give me good peformance and/or make my truck sound meaner?
