Re: blown head gasket please help!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome to the AF!
Don't drive the truck. If you have glycol in the oil, drain the oil + filter as soon as you can, same with the coolant if there is oil in the coolant. If you have, put a reminder on the engine that you've drained the oil. Use a Toyota head gasket. If you've overheated the engine, bring the head to a machinist to test for warpage. Get it machined if it's warped. Take alot of photos along the way as you disassemble the engine, marking the parts carefully - keep them clean. If you are not doing the work yourself, bring it to a mechanic you trust. Get recommendations from others who have had major engine work done. Here's a link to the head removal portion of an on-line Toyota maintenance manual for your engine: http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...68cylinder.pdf Here are some instructions on removing and replacing the head from Autozone: http://www1.autozone.com/servlet/UiB...3d8017957f.jsp You probably don't have to go through alot of the work detailed in these instructions. If the truck was running well before you blew the HG and you didn't overheat it badly, odds are the head isn't warped and you can just R&R the head without disassembling it. Good luck.

Re: blown head gasket please help!!!!!!!!!!
Toyota head gaskets are made to Toyota specifications and may not be available from anywhere except a Toyota parts counter or authorized dealer. You are taking chances if you don't buy it from Toyota directly.

Re: blown head gasket please help!!!!!!!!!!
The fags at Ulhmann Motors in Chehalis, WA, which is a Toyota dealer, used an aftermarket headgasket when they rebuilt the engine in my Toyota Van. Probably lasted for about 1,000-2,000 miles 'til I started losing coolant. Put some Bars Leak in the system and got about another 6,000 miles out of it after that until I noticed bubbles and my oil turning milky. I yanked the head off and noticed the headgasket perfectly matched the aftermarket headgaskets I see on the Schucks website. Dad picked up a headgasket set from another Toyota dealer and it's totally different. The firing rings are twice as thick. NEVER settle for less. ALWAYS use OEM for critical shit like this.

2,000 miles? You should have still been under warranty. You needed to let Toyota Motor Corp know that they don't use OEM parts. |

Re: blown head gasket please help!!!!!!!!!!
They only gave us a 1 month warranty. We were gonna get a 1 year warranty, but it took us over a year to negotiate a payment plan because they wanted the money all at once that my Dad couldn't afford. Not to worry though. He already talked to a lawyer and no longer had to make any payments.

Re: blown head gasket please help!!!!!!!!!!
If this is a 95 or earlier, be sure that you put the right gasket on the right side and the left gasket on the left side. This may apply to all models, I don't know. You can check this visually because they will have a tab indicating side and you should be able to line up all openings in the gasket with a port in the block. I could have saved $1000 if the guy who had my runner before me and changed them himself had known all this. Good luck.
