I'm Confused!!!??!?!?!

so my question here is.... if i have a 99 grand prix gt with a factory cd stereo in it, and want to add a cd changer.... i know i would plug it in to the cd changer port in the back of the cd player, but how would i control the cd changer, because there arent any buttons on the cd player to press so that i can switch to a cd changer.... (no input, aux)
any ideas????- THANKS

Yes go to the dealer and , or any Audio outlet, they should hav the harness that connects the changer to the stock CD player.
Not sure , but the CD players buttons control the changer too. Kinda the way the CD/casset tape combo works. The dealer or someone on here might hav this setup stock already and know which buttons do what.

PFYC might hav the hard wired thing needed for the changer hook-up.

Re: I'm Confused!!!??!?!?!

well, the thing is,.... it seems like i need to have the button to change it over to use a cd changer.... .because actually its for an ipod interface type thing.... my manual says that if i had a tape deck , all i need to do is hold the play button for 3 seconds... but on the cd player in my car, when i try that, nothing happens..... im just so sick of trying to get this thing to work... it seems like there arent any compatible ipod hookups for a grand prix, its so frusterating, i'm sick of my FM transmitter

Re: I'm Confused!!!??!?!?!

Replace the stock stereo bro. Thats what I would do. I liked the OEM stereo in my GP, but lately it started acting weird and showing some crazy # and such...

Re: I'm Confused!!!??!?!?!

Ok shorty6049, so you already hav the changer hooked up to your stocker with the FM transmitter ?

I guess the GM Delcos differ from model to model,
on my Grand Am the Cd buttons control the tape, and if it had a stock changer it would control it too, some how.

You might be better off getting a new radio that can use the CD changer you already hav.
We all know to well how good those delcos are, with thier funky displays and all the other problems, You either hav a good one or not .

Oh ya, thier is a ipod hook up at PFYC,
http://www.pfyc.com/store/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PFYC&Product_Co de=GN8004&Product_Count=26&Category_Code=GPINT $180 though

Re: I'm Confused!!!??!?!?!

ok, basically, i actually asked this question to hopefully get my REAL question answered, which was , is there a way to connect my ipod to the stereo with a USA spec ipod adapter? the thing is, it seems that i need to have cd changer buttons, or a tape deck instead of a stock cd player.... i do NOT have a cd changer actually, i just figured if there was a way to hook up a cd changer, then there must be a way to hook up the interface because thats basically what it acts as.... i dont have a lot of money though, because i'm going to college and all, so i could only afford the ipod adapter..... does anyone know how well a stereo with an aux hole in the front would work? (does it amplify the signal at all or do you need to turn the ipod way up for it to sound good?, thanks

Re: I'm Confused!!!??!?!?!

also, i looked on bestbuy.com, and it keeps telling me that there are like no cd players that are compatible with a 99 grand prix..... is there a reason for that, or do most still work with it?, thanks again

Re: I'm Confused!!!??!?!?!

heres a place to look for different models of stearos,
should hav several that fit the GP.

crutchfield

What you might be running into is none really "fit" any car,
you usually need to buy a kit with parts that take up all that space with flashy plastic, kits run from $20-40.

For instance, heres a Pioneer DEH-P4800MP for $140, works with ipods.
