CRV Rear Diff fluid change

Can someone walk me through this proceedure. Just got this thing for the Kid. And it needs to be done. I see a listing of what fluid I need and a mention of needing two 20mm washers. And not having a Shop manual yet nor having looked up under there I am not certain how exactly it drains and how if fills. I see a spec of 1.3 Quarts. And I see a torq spec of 35 pounds so I got that stuff. But the mention of washers (perhaps sealing washers?) and it being two... I had hoped meant it had a drain plug and a fill hole. Could I be so lucky?

This is a 2001 AWD auto by the way.

Anyway if anyone has the proceedure it would be much appreciated. Not that it will make much sense till I look under there tomorrow but it might

I unfortuantelly do not know how to do it on CRV but yesterday I did the same kind of job on my son's Pilot. It was very easy.
If nobody responds to your thread with the knowledge of CRV you at least will have an idea of general procedures.
Look from the rear of the vehicle. You will see a rear differential. One plug at the top of it, one at the bottom. You will need a 3/8 extention and a ratchet to uscrew them. Bottom plug was 20 mm. I got a crush washer from the dealer for $2.33. I think that you will be able to get five of them for half the price at any automotive store.
The size of the top plug is 24 mm. Neither dealer nor any store carries that size. So I had to reuse the old one. So far so good. It does not leak.
It took 3 quarts of VTM 4 fluid. That is how they call it. I had to buy it from the dealer who charged me belive it or not 7 dollars for a quart!!!
Since the vehicle is under warranty I did not even try to look for an aftermarket brand.
Before you draind the old fluid make sure you are able to unscrew the fill (top) plug. I have heard complaints that somebody could not do it. So it is better to be safe than sorry.
In order to fill the differential with fluid you will need some kind of pump: there is no room for the funnell. I used a regular automotive hand pump that I bought a while ago.

I actually had found the detailed descriptions and changed mine yesterday. even a Video or two. Easy job. The Gen 1 CR-V uses two hex head plugs. Those take a 17mm wrench or socket. They use a 20mm crush washer and 1.1 ounces of Dual Pump fluid fills it. Or just put it in until it drips out the fill hole. On the Gen 1 there is enough room to use the bottle if you have a nipple cap for it. This is a 15 minute job overall. Simple.

And it fixed my noise. Immediately.

The Gen 2 needs some sort of longer reach spout or funnel than that. And it uses two square holed plugs that a 3/8" drive sockets square drive fits into it nicely. Same volume. Just a bit different plugs and access.
