98 Windstar IMRC ( manifold runner) $$$$$$

Helloo All!

What a shock!

On my 98 there are two small vacuum actuators ( or motors ) that control the manifold runners - very simple devices, you know. One ( the left hand one) has deveoped a leak in the internal diaphram (sp) and does not function; which ( surprise!) generates a fault code. No big deal, except before it'll pass smog ( in Calif) it's gotta be functioning. Fine.... I'm all for that... except my Ford dealer is asking $260 for the part!!!!

Anyone have leads on a cheaper part / source / Windstar junkyard???

btw the p/n is F65Z9S514cc

Thanks!

Try at http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...?siteid=214072 which is an online parts department for a Ford Dealer that has very good prices.
They have them for about $157 versus a list price of about $261.

You can also try www.rockauto.com which is an online auto parts store.

Re: 98 Windstar IMRC ( manifold runner) $$$$$$

If the IMRC is not available at the sources listed by WisWind, Five Star Ford also sells at at a discount. Last week the price was $169.70.

Can someone tell me why my IMRC solenoid kicks in at 1500 rpm? I thought the IMRC valves opened at 30000 rpm.

The manifold runners are not emissions related. They simply offer an alternate short path for incoming air at higher RPMs so that the engine doesn't choke. During low RPMs the longer intake path is preferred as it promotes torque.

Although your CEL is on your emissions may still be acceptable. Does California require that the CEL be off? Where I am they only care about the emissions and they do not care what the CEl is doing.
