check engine light

ok, so the check engine light is on, and the car runs fine, i know it's been covered before, and i tried to search, but found nothing. so, can a test pipe cause the check engine light to come on? because it never came on untill that was installed. i just... it makes me mad, i'll un-plug the battery, and the light will stay off for a week or so, but then it just comes back on... and i have to reset it agian... any input? is there something i can do to over ride the emissions bullshit? i havent ordered my DSMlink yet, so... i dont have it yet obviously... but i will shortly, got payed today, deposit tomorrow, order monday... YEAH!!! anyways, anyone know? thanks

Re: check engine light

Have you pulled the code(s)? That would probably help to decipher what's causing it to come on.

Go to Autozone or something. They read codes for free.

Re: check engine light

Turn your key on off, on off, on within 5 seconds and watch your CEL. The number of blinks are your code numbers.

Ex. Two blinks in a row with a pause in between and 5 more blinks is code 25.

Re: check engine light

I dont' think so. Check your owners manual, I would think it would say something about it if the 1g's did have that option.
