The Blazer has plastic fuel Lines!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you believe it? The 98 Chevy Blazer LT, 4x4 ,262, v6 , 4 door, fuel injected, Poppet valve equiped, Fun Machine. HAS PLASTIC FUEL LINES!!!

I couldn't believe it !! I jacked up the truck and got underneath to sort out a fuel problem, armed with a new fuel filter and assorted tools. I just knew that I would be done in 30 minutes or less. Right !!

After removing the fuel filter and checking the flow rate of the rear fuel pump, then checking the front inline fuel pump, my eyes looked past the fuel filter and at the underside of the floor pan And there they were!! 3 PLASTIC FUEL LINES!! I just started cursing, I'm running 2 fuel pumps!, and using plastic fuel lines! The truth is that they are only about 10" long But that doesn't change the fact that they are plastic!!

And since they are plastic guess what I found? the main line that leads to the injectors had a nice big kink in it. A complete 90 deg kink!! It was almost completely blocked off! I must have did this maybe a year and a half ago when I was hooking up the inline pump.

All of those Dyno runs were a waste of time and money, all of those codes that were shown by the OBD2 were all stemming from a kinked plastic fuel line!! All of that lost power that I never knew that I had. The engine is a complete beast now!! The revs fly with the slightest touch of the pedal! Can't wait to get to the Dyno now!

CHECK YOUR FUEL LINES!!! The plastic ones above the fuel filter, that could explain power issues, driveability problems, and bad gas mileage. If you have changed your fuel filter in the past , check those Plastic fuel lines! Look for kinks and twists. Check anyway, just to check ,just to check anyway!!

Did that last part make any sense??

Re: The Blazer has plastic fuel Lines!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back up again! Just for a couple of weeks. Going to do a trans rebuild. replace a few clutch packs, try out a new power servo, replace a couple of actuators . Trans stuff.

Those plastic lines are as good as gone! Gonna replace them with flex steel lines. just run your fingers over the entire length of the plastic parts and feel for bends or kinks. Man I'm glad that I looked up!!

Glad that you are up and running again. Isn't this Forum great!!

Re: The Blazer has plastic fuel Lines!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually only part of it is plastic, some of it is standard fuel line...
