Exclamation Problem w/ CD player

I tried putting in a cd player today. All the wires are hooked up, I turn on my car and there is no power to the cd player. But when the cd player itself touches anything metal it gets power, and also there some sparks. When I tried to hook up the ground wire to something metal and w/o the cd player touching anything metal, it does'nt turn on.

Re: Problem w/ CD player

Did you remove the neg. battery cable before installing?

If you could, take a pic of your wiring job. Harness to player and ground spot etc.

Re: Problem w/ CD player

sound lik your power is shorted somewhere in there. get a volt tester and start testing power wires and your ground
