94 Ultra Tire question

I have 215/60/16 on right now. Can I put 235/55/16 on it with no problems? I just want a stiff sidewall with almost no give. Any other input would be nice. Thanks

Re: 94 Ultra Tire question

I run 225/50/16 on my monte. I can whip that fat car around! What was the stock size? 215/60 doesn't sound stock.. You can use the 235/55 and your speedometer will still be right on(well, 0.1% slow)

Re: 94 Ultra Tire question

Stock size is a good question. Got 215/60/16 on now, the door stickers are all white which leaves me clueless now. Glad to know I can use the 235/55/16, will the 225/50/16 work too? Can I use them on the stock rims? Thanks

Re: 94 Ultra Tire question

If I were to guess at stock tire size, i'd say 235/70, maybe 235/65. The 225/50/16 works fine on my 6.5" wide rims, which are stock. I can't stand looking at a tire thats too wide for the rim, looks bubbled out er something..

Re: 94 Ultra Tire question

Do you, or anyone, know the correct OEM size tire a 94 Ultra takes?

Re: 94 Ultra Tire question

Interesting, 215/60's are stock size.. So you'd have no problems at all..

Re: 94 Ultra Tire question

I'm going to give the 235/55's a shot. I checked the prices for the 50 series tires and about dropped dead! Boy they are expensive!

Thanks for all your help!

Re: 94 Ultra Tire question

The 215's are 8.7, the 235's are 9.6. This is sidewall width. Will the 235's rub up towards the top of the wheel well with the wheel turned left or right?

Re: 94 Ultra Tire question

Mine are 9" wide and 3" tall on my monte carlo, and they don't rub...Barely though. Think your tire dealer would do a test fit? I'd think so if he/she wanted to sell you some tires. Those 50 series tires ARE high! I paid $600 for a full set...

Re: 94 Ultra Tire question

Thanks for all your help! Trying to go with the 55 series. Tiny bit cheaper than the 50 series! Buying online so can't get it checked out unless I pay!!

I got the 6.5 inch rims, the tires I'm looking at are approved for 6.5 to 8.5 rims. Am I pushing the limit or will this fit fine?

Re: 94 Ultra Tire question

If they have rim protectors, they'll look fine. If they don't, they'll only hang over the rim about a half inch or so..
