Cool freedom at last!

well at long last 10 mo. the car is finally paid off which can only mean one thing.....ITS TIME TO MOD THE SHIT OUT OF IT!!! im still trying to decide how far to take it so im very open to new ideas. im also very interested in what other people have done. im not sure that upgrading the engine and boring it out would be taking it too far, but im more than willing to accept that doing so could be overkill. anyway right now its a plain 2.0 DOHC mint condition with 76k on it. only one ding in the rear passenger door....do to some a$$hole in my works parking lot! 9 1/2 years the car is on the planet without a scratch..... anyway! lets get some plans started...maybe we can make this another forum project...only just for us ford junkies. lets get rollin!

Re: freedom at last!

First thing i would start with would be an external tranny cooler. The ATX's pretty much just self destruct themselves because they run so hot.

Re: freedom at last!

Honestly, its a 2.0 ATX and theres not much you're going to get out of it performance wise without spending some major cash. I'd focus on suspension and braking and then maybe a few performance bolt ons.

Re: freedom at last!

do not misunderstand me... i know that a 2.0 even though a dohc is only good for nice gas mileage. i am talking about replacing the engine tranny etc. i am considering making this little more than a toy at this point...hence the project ideas. i fully plan on redoing everything in it...exhaust tranny engine cooling systems interior paint job etc. im just looking for suggestions on concepts and quility parts that work well in the contour. lmao trust me for 10 months ive known that the 2.0 in my car is not a performance engine. i look forward to hearing and seeing conepts for parts and design.

Re: freedom at last!

In that case a 3.0/MTX swap is the way to go. But as I mentioned, being a 2.0/ATX car, this is going to be alot more costly than one already with a V6. The easiest solution I can think of is to buy a 2.5/MTX parts car and swap everything over and then work on the 3.0 swap. Even with this idea it's going to cost alot of coin and be a whole lot of work. In the end it would be much more practical IMO just to sell it and buy a contour with a manual and V6.
