Re: i need help! with a 97 grand am se
Welcome to AF !
IF the blowrs not blowing, your father could hav knocked off the plug under the hood that goes to the blower, or the blower has died ![]() Also your car uses(or did) use the R-12 freon which you cant get unless your a regsterd HVAC tech with the license to handle it. And is VERY expensive. The R-12 can be removed(at a qualified shop) and adapted/switched to the new R-134a which is much cheaper and safer for the enviroment. I'll PM you a link !

Re: i need help! with a 97 grand am se
Before you have someone evacuate the system, make sure its r-12, my 95 came from the factory with r-134a, and I believe it was industry standard right around that time.

Re: i need help! with a 97 grand am se
I have a 94 GA that came with R134a. The place to recharge the freon on mine is at the top back of the air compressor (furthest away from the belt).

Re: i need help! with a 97 grand am se
I have a 97 grand am se and you will find the the low pressure /sys fill is on the the AC compress. It is possible to charge your AC from the underside of the car while up on jack stands or ramps just becareful because the car has to be running while you charge. And you do have a 134 sys..
