98 GC heater only works on high

The heater in my wife's 98 Grand Caravan only works when the temp is set to the highest position. It is either hot or cold, no in-between. The mechanic says it is not the switch but is some other part that costs a lot. Any ideas or suggestion?

sounds like a problem with the blend door . This would involve pulling the dash apart which will cost $$$$$$$$$$.

I just had mine fix. The relay in the panel is bad. Mine was caused by A/C fan going out. You might also have to replace the control in the console. It is an expensive repair.
