o Items are shipped from the SF Bay Area of CA., so should be 1-2 day delivery in-state.
* If you desire a faster delivery method, select one below:

Select Shipping Option

Priority Mail Shipping (US only)
- US$4.50 additional, 2-3 days w/ tracking:

I onyl needed one contact C, that is the only one that typically wears out. If both of them wore out together, you wouldn't need new contacts. The other contact in the starter is not a C, don't rememebr what that one was, but my guess is you don't need it. Or you can order all four, return what you don't need for partial refund, details on site.

If you don't want to wait, you could just take the contacts out and take them to your local dealer. Most dealers now carry a variety of them in stock, due to the common nature of this problem. It might be a little more money but you can fix it right away. If you are considering this option, I would give the local dealer a call to make sure they carry them, before you take the starter out again.

"just wondering if I can use also soldering iron and lead to fill the gap/space?"

IMHO some things just aren't worth the risk. When I had this problem on my wife's 98, I opted to have the whole starter professionally rebuilt. The car already had 90,000 miles on it and if I was going through the trouble to take the starter out, I wanted to make sure it was like new when it went back in. It's gets pretty cold here in the Chicago area during Winter and I didn't want to take any chance of the car now starting for my wife and leaving her stranded in the cold. The contacts are cheap enough to just replace.

Re: starter contact for 2000 camry sedan

Didn't know you were from Chi also Mike.

I replaced mine in early June. just took some fairly smooth sandpaper (about 220) to the plunger, just to get all the crap off of it. Don't wear away too much material. No way you will get it completely clean, some of the pits are just too deep. Just get it decent.
Took about 3-4 days to get the contacts from that site. Took an hour total to take out starter, sand plunger and old contact, put new contact in, and put it back in the car. Hasn't even hesitated to start since this was done (except when I ran the battery down too far )
Don't overthink it. It's a simple fix
I don't think there is much risk involved with this, but i sure as sh*t wouldn't just fill the contact in with solder. Solder is think si softer than copper so it'll wear faster, and might just fall 'snap' off of the contact anyway if you didn't get it to bond right. That plunger hits that contact with a lot of force, it's not something i'd wanna mess with. I think it would last a few months, but thats takign a shot in the dark. If you decide to do it, let us know about it.

Re: starter contact for 2000 camry sedan

Thanks guys ,
I'd spray it with brake cleaner without sanding it.n just starts every time.
2 miles away from work and home so I'll just wait till it wears out,
from L.A.
