91 Tracker has NO SPARK

Help! We changed the oil in my 91 Tracker and hooked up the radio. Now there is no spark, it rolls over but will not start. Had a mechanic check it over, could find nothing wrong. Changed coil, distributor, ignition module... nothing.

Re: 91 Tracker has NO SPARK

How many miles does your tracker have on it? After about 40,000 the computer tends to die if it is the original Mitsubushi unit. (That's right, a Mitsu computer.) This is a known problem for the 90 thru 95 units, search the forum for ECM or computer and you'll see. Fortunately they can be repaired and the folks who do it are listed in the postings.

Also check your IGN fuse, if it has blown you won't get a spark. On my 91 a bad O2 sensor kept blowing the fuse.

I went down the road of replacing everything but the computer (ECM) and the O2 sensor. Lots of cash for a relatively simple fix. Get the computer and O2 sensor checked out before you drop in any more new parts you probably don't need.
