2000 Neon Motor Mounts

I'm currently working on my brother in laws 2000 Neon and suspecting that the motor mounts are bad, causing the clunk upon acceleration and deacceleration. The motor seems to lift up a little more than it should when given the gas while holding the brake or simply with it in Park or Neutral. I see there is an upper motor mount, on the left side if you are looking down on the motor, and there is another one on the same side but under the motor. Is there anymore? Can anyone confirm exactly how many motor mounts a 2000 Neon has? I'm looking at the replacement parts for it and they list two as:

Rear Left Upper
Front Right Lower

Like I said, the two I can see are on the left side, top and bottom if you are looking at the motor from the front of the car. But this wording makes it seem like there is one on the other side also.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: 2000 Neon Motor Mounts

The "other" one is probably the tranny mount, but there are only 2 motor mounts.

If you're looking at the motor from the front of the car...

Is there one on the left right on top very visible, then another one underneath the motor, same side?

Thanks

You should be able to call your local dealership on this one. Their parts department should have a schematic for this (they had one for my 98). They don't always have these in stock-but you can go to a local hardware store once you know the needed measurements. HOWEVER- it is odd that you need to replace motor mounts already. I'd certainly be looking for the cause Because you're right--it does sound like motor mounts. Does he drag/race this Neon. Look at the front section of the exaust system...are their cracks? If an engine is moving enough to damage engine mount bolts---there is a reason. I goe through a lot of emgine mount bolts--but I drag race and like to take corners on the streets like a crazy woman. Good luck!!!
