Question 2001 4x4 XLT squeaking noise

Can anyone give me an idea where to start in diagnosing a squeaking noise I hear when moving when I hit bumps or wiggle the steering wheel left & right while driving.

Thanks in advance.

Could be a tie rod end or a lower ball joint. Get a stethoscope, have an assistant move the wheel while you probe for the noise.

Thumbs up Re: 2001 4x4 XLT squeaking noise

Thanks Johnny,

Would it be safe to assume that after 5 years of Boston weather the truck would need new ball joints or the tie rod ends replaced?
