2001 S10 Blazer 4X4 front hub work

Recently had front hubs replaced at local shop. The costs seemed a little high, wanted to get some input on how I faired. The cost for the parts was $330 per hub and $220 for the labor. There was also no front end alighnment done after the hubs were replaced. Is that the standard? No steering parts were replaced.

Re: 2001 S10 Blazer 4X4 front hub work

Welcome to the Forum!
Hate to tell you this, but I think you got taken for a bit. The labor sounds about right, but I just replaced both of my Hubs and they were only about $175 each! That seems like a pretty high markup for those hubs.
They took a total of about 3 hours for both of them, so I guess the labor rate is about right, when you are looking at ~$85/hour.
You shouldn't have to have an alignment done for just replacing the hubs - it doesn't affect the geometry of the wheels at all.

Re: 2001 S10 Blazer 4X4 front hub work

Thanks. I was afraid of that. Had to get the work done, didn't think I had the tools or experience to do that job. the guy did mention some cheaper hubs at around $200, but he didn't recommend them. Of course, he went with the "better" parts with more room for mark up. I should have started here at AF first.
