After filling gas tank the gas gauge shows full untill I drive a few miles then it goes slowly to empty on my 2003 Grand Prix. Then the low fuel lite comes on.
Is there a way to reset it or is it a part that is malfunctioning in the electrical circuit? |

Re: Fuel gauge Question
There is no reset. The part acting up is probably the fuel level sending and float unit located in the gas tank which is part of the fuel pump assembly.

Thanks for the response, I guess I'll have to do more testing etc.

Re: Fuel gauge Question
Here is a fuel pump pod with the level sending unit. You can troubleshoot and replace just the fuel sending unit and float. The sending unit is available from the GM dealer or an AC Delco Authorized Parts place. It is not necessary to replace the whole fuel pump assembly. Much cheaper.

Re: Fuel gauge Question
bnaylor,
Thanks Again for your help regarding the fuel gauge reading low after fill up. The photo you made available was alittle hard to distinguish because of the color & background but it sure helps. Al |
