Keyless entry question

Hi, I have a 1997 Grand Marquis and I am having a problem with my keyless entry........The remote I have is a non oem remote that came with the remote starter when I had it put in. The keyless entry stopped working about a month ago but when I go to lock the doors with the keyless entry I can hear the alarm chirp indicating that the alarm is activated and when I unlock the doors I can hear the alarm chirp indicating that the alarm was deactivated. The remote starter works.........Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Thanks

Do you mean the keypad on the drivers door, the OEM remotes, or both?

you said that keyless entry stopped working about a month ago, but at same time you said that I go to lock the doors with the keyless entry...

is it working or not?

When I go to lock the doors with the keyless entry the only thing that happens is the alarm chips as it is supose to.(the doors do not lock)

so in this case you are using Keyless Entry Remote Transmitter like most of the ppl do.

THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK/UNLOCK USING THE REMOTE TRANSMITTER

Is that what you have?

if so:

Check the door lock operation by depressing the window/door lock switch in the lock button.
Do the door locks operate?
