Question transmission troubles

i have a 95 neon and the transmission went out about a year ago and we took it to the shop and they raped us but halfway fixed it. drivin home the clutch cable breaks and we take it back and they rape us again and fixied it. so we let it set for the past year and got a van now i got it out and drove it around for about a week and the transmission has this rattling sound when it is in neutral and the clutch is out. when ya push the clutch in it will stop. anyone have a clue what this noise is. and it would throw itself out of 3rd and 5th gears but was still drivable. now it has this high pitched grinding noise when ya accelerate in third like something is going bad quickly. does this manual tranny need some gear oil or is it the trow out bearing any help is appreciated

Welcome to AF on your first post.
But as you said you got took for a ride.
Next time check arouns first.
Good Luck MT

Check around Ask around
Word of mouth.
Family friends coworkers neighbors business people and delivery people.
Mailmen and parcel delivery people get around and notice a lot of stuff.
Even a good parts house knows what shops are good and not good.
Chamber of commerce and better business bureau and city hall.
If you find a good referral to a repair shop go look them over and talk to them.
Look for a clean looking busy place with nice people running it.
Ask a few questions and ask about their qualifications and training.
Not all places have trained tech/mechanics.
If they do not find a place that does.
Even all dealers do not have all trained techs/mechanics.
