Angry Multi disc CD Player problems 2001 Venture

Has anyone had problems with the factory installed Radio multi-CD plyer system? This is the 3 rd time I have had a problem. Now unfortunately, the warranty has expired. My guess is that a repair job will cost more thatn an aftermarket system.

As for the problem: the radio works fine but the CD player will not do anything at all. Doesn't even indicate when switched to CD. It is....quite simply dead.

If you have some thoughts, anybody, please flip me a reply or pm me at [email protected].

It sounds like the internal switch to let the player know that a CD is installed is either not working or not being de-pressed properly. I would suggest since the warranty has expired to remove the player, open the case and lightly grease (using lithium grease or similar) all of the contact surfaces of the CD loading mechanism. Do not use a lot of grease and be careful to only get the proper surfaces lubricated.

If this fails you may wish to replace the player becasue as you suggested an aftermarket deck is probably less expensive than replairing.

The player should be easy to remove. I took out the player from my 99 last night. I simply removed two screws and the bezel came off. 2 more screws, one wiring harness and the antenna input was all that I needed to remove the player. Took about 15 minutes. For my aftermarket player (in my 99) I need to reduce the opening from 1.5 DIN to 1 DIN (height of deck). I purchased a mounting kit but I might try and figure something out without using it (I did the same on my 99 Windstar to reduce a 2 DIN size and it looks great). I also bought a wiring harness that plugs into the car's harness and provides free ends to connect to the player's wiring (so that I don't have to cut wires) Alternatively you can try ebay to find a used player the same as yours

Re: Multi disc CD Player problems 2001 Venture

The UC6 10333503 CD Player and radio system are integrated with everything else. This includes the garage door opener, the remote locks and the security alarm. If anyone knows of a way to bypass all this stuff or to keep it all functioning with the factory unit removed i am all ears.
