Cool 5w-20 GF-4 oil Toyota approved for all Lexi engines March, 23 2006

So... I've been running mobil 1 5w-20 synthetic since January anyway. Good for me. Apparantly I missed that in March, Toyota put out a TSIB that approved 5w-20 GF-4 oils for use on most of the older engine blocks.
Which is fine for me. A couple horsepower, easier pumping, better cold starts, no downside. Everyone else should pimp it.

Like always. Mobil oil's put out phenominal stats on Toyota v6's (and ofhand, everything else).

Wow, new engines will use 0W-20? that's ...different. Too bad 5s-fe isn't on that list of 5w-20 approved engines

On a side note, does anyone think High Mileage oil really makes a difference?

So according to this does it mean that my 1998 CAMRY LE V6 with the engine 1MZ-FE can use the 5W-20 oil without any problems. The car has 120,000 miles on it. It has been well taken care of, oil changes and everything on time and has been driven like a grandma would drive

Cool Re: 5w-20 GF-4 oil Toyota approved for all Lexi engines March, 23 2006

I hate engines driven like a grandma would. Those are the engines that never kept breaking in over time & keeping great compression on the piston rings.

The MZ block family is on that list of 5w-20 approved engines. It's up there.

0w-20 isn't really different. Many engines have been coming with 5w-20 for years. Some Ford v8's, BMW's, Hondas, D-chrystler, etc. Toyota is the worlds greatest follower.

High mileage oil does make a differance. But the differance is questionable, as the addative packages are way different compaired to specified base oils. Good, premium dino / synthetic oils are still better IMO than high mileage oils. If you are wondering about them, go on bobistheoilguy.com's forums & do some searching between oil types & anylisis on various engines.
