Ball Joints question

Hi I have a 1999 GMC Jimmy and my ball joints are shot. I have 147xxx almost 148000 miles on it and have never replaced them before but know how to. My question is that I do not plan on having this truck for any more then 2 years at most because of the high milage so would the cheap $26.00 ball joints from NAPA work or should i still invest the bigger bucks and get the $50.00 Moog. I know Moog are recommended but $200 is alot to invest in something i want to just keep running for the time being. Let me know what you all think. Thanks in advance.

Re: Ball Joints question

TRW Ball Joints (Made by Moog) $33 at Murrays Auto Parts.
I would'nt ride on anything cheap, Especially when it comes to front end steering parts, My life is my priority, But that's just me. Yes the cheaper ones will work on your truck...

Re: Ball Joints question

Advanced has the TRW ball joints. About $30 each upper and lower for 4WD. They are good ball joints, much better than the "tread saver" versions - that won't last the two years you are looking for.

Here is a link to the 99 Blazer/Jimmy Ball Joints -

Re: Ball Joints question

Shop around, you probably can get the Moog's cheaper.

The TRW's will be good but grease them every 5000miles or they will be shot fast.

Get an alignment done as well which should be done when you replace the balljoints.

Failure you to do so will cost you more money in the long run.

Re: Ball Joints question

Are you doing it yourself or a shop doing the labor ? They are a pain to get off the first time . Rob
